What Experts Say
Doxycycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. This bacteriostatic action prevents bacterial reproduction, allowing the immune system to clear the infection. Doxycycline has excellent tissue penetration and oral bioavailability.
Infectious disease specialists and dermatologists recommend Adoxa for respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and moderate-to-severe acne due to its broad-spectrum coverage and anti-inflammatory properties. It is particularly useful for Chlamydia infections and tick-borne diseases.
Adoxa should be taken with a full glass of water and remain upright for 30 minutes. Avoid dairy, calcium, and iron supplements within 2 hours as they reduce absorption. Improvement typically occurs within 3 to 7 days for infections and 4 to 8 weeks for acne.
