How to use Azatco Tablet 250mg?
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
- May be taken with or without food
- Avoid taking aluminum or magnesium antacids within two hours of this tablet
- Take doses about the same time each day
Contraindications
- Avoid in patients with a known allergy to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics
- Not suitable for patients with a history of liver problems from a prior azithromycin course
- Contraindicated in severe liver impairment
- Not recommended for patients with a known heart rhythm disorder called QT prolongation
Drug Interactions
- Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium: these reduce how well this tablet is absorbed
- Warfarin: azithromycin can increase the bleeding risk when combined with this blood thinner
- Digoxin: azithromycin can raise digoxin levels in the blood
Risks and warnings
- Heart rhythm risk: use cautiously in patients with a known heart rhythm disorder or low potassium levels
- Liver function: your doctor may monitor liver function during a longer course
- Severe diarrhea: seek medical care if diarrhea becomes severe or watery during or after treatment
- Complete the course: stopping early can allow the infection to return and promote resistance
