Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which reduces the population of Cutibacterium acnes on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide adds an oxidizing, keratolytic action that breaks down comedones and has bactericidal activity of its own, without the risk of bacterial resistance associated with antibiotics used alone.

Combining the two ingredients in one gel addresses acne through complementary mechanisms, lowering the chance of clindamycin resistant bacterial strains developing over time. Clinical studies on combination clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gels consistently show greater reduction in inflammatory lesion counts compared to either ingredient used alone.

How to use Benclin Gel?

• Wash and pat dry the affected area before application
• Apply a thin layer once daily, usually in the evening
• Avoid the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes
• Wash hands after application
• Use sunscreen during the day as the gel can increase sun sensitivity

Drug Interactions

• Topical Retinoids: May increase skin irritation and dryness when used together
• Other Topical Acne Products: Combined use with other peeling or drying agents can worsen irritation
• Sulfur or Salicylic Acid Products: May increase dryness and irritation when used at the same time
