Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills many bacteria that infect the ear canal, including Pseudomonas, which is common in swimmer's ear. Lignocaine is a local anesthetic that numbs the nerve endings. Ear infections are common in children and swimmers, and untreated infection can spread or damage hearing.

Used together, the drops treat the cause and ease the pain at the same time. Applying them directly means very little medicine reaches the rest of the body. Using the drops with clean hands and not inserting cotton buds deep into the ear helps healing.

How to use Cipocain Ear Drops?

• Use Cipocain Ear Drops exactly as prescribed, usually 3 to 4 drops in the affected ear 2 to 3 times daily.
• Warm the bottle in the hand for a minute, then lie on the side with the affected ear up.
• Stay in position for about 5 minutes after instilling the drops.
• Do not touch the dropper tip to the ear or any surface.

Drug Interactions

• Other ear preparations: Space different ear drops by a few minutes, or follow the doctor's order.
• Systemic fluoroquinolone antibiotics: Taking them together adds little benefit and may add allergy risk.
• Other lidocaine containing products: Combined numbing medicines may add up, though absorption from ear drops is low.

• Eardrum perforation: Check with a doctor before use if the eardrum may be torn.
• Allergy: Avoid in allergy to quinolones or local anesthetics, and stop if rash or itching appears.
