What Experts Say
Doctors often prescribe a combination tablet like this one when a single blood pressure medicine does not bring readings down to a safe range. Valsartan works by relaxing blood vessels, while Hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water from the body. Together they tend to lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine used on its own.
Physicians usually recommend regular blood pressure checks and periodic kidney function tests while a patient is on this combination, since both the ARB component and the diuretic component can affect electrolyte levels and kidney performance. Many general physicians in Pakistan see this type of combination used once other single agent options have not achieved target readings.
Clinical guidance also stresses that this tablet is not meant for immediate emergency lowering of blood pressure. It works gradually over several weeks, so patients are advised to continue taking it daily even when they feel normal, and to avoid stopping suddenly without medical advice, since blood pressure can rise again quickly if treatment is interrupted.
