Euvax-B contains a small, purified piece of the hepatitis B virus called the surface antigen. It cannot cause infection on its own. Instead, it trains the immune system to recognize and fight the real virus if exposure happens later.

In Pakistan, this vaccine is given to newborns within 24 hours of birth as part of the national Expanded Programme on Immunization, followed by two more doses in early infancy. People with a severe allergy to yeast or any component of the vaccine should avoid it.
