FerInject injection is used to treat iron deficiency anemia. Iron is important for the body as it helps make new red blood cells. When the body does not have enough iron it can lead to a condition called anemia. FerInject injection is an intravenous (IV) form of iron. Since it is injected directly into the veins it is far more effective than iron supplements taken orally. They can help raise hemoglobin levels quickly in anemia patients. Anemia can cause shortness of breath and weakness due to a lack of hemoglobin (a substance in red blood cells that helps carry oxygen to the body’s organs and tissues). It can be caused due to pregnancy, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic kidney disease, and heavy menstrual bleeding. Ferric Carboxymaltose contained in FerInject is an iron replacement product. It helps promote red blood cell production in patients who have chronic kidney disease by replacing iron in the blood. It is important to note that FerInject injection is only effective against iron deficiency anemia and should not be used to treat other forms of anemia.
