How to use Filatil injection 300mcg?
- Given as a subcutaneous injection or short intravenous infusion by a healthcare professional
- Usually started about 24 hours after a chemotherapy session ends
- Dose is calculated based on body weight and blood test results
- Complete blood counts are checked regularly during treatment
- Bring the vial to room temperature before injection, do not shake it
Drug Interactions
- Chemotherapy Drugs: Filgrastim should not be given in the 24 hours before or after cytotoxic chemotherapy since dividing cells are more sensitive to chemo during this window.
- Lithium: This medicine may increase the white blood cell releasing effect of lithium, so combined use needs monitoring.
- Other Colony Stimulating Factors: Using Filatil together with similar biologic agents is not recommended without specialist advice.
Risks and warnings
- Bone Pain: Filgrastim commonly causes moderate to severe bone pain, especially in the back and hips, which usually responds to standard pain relievers.
- Splenic Rupture: Rare but serious spleen rupture has been reported, so seek emergency care for sudden upper left abdominal or shoulder tip pain.
- Allergic Reaction: Stop the injection and seek help right away if you notice rash, swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
- Sickle Cell Crisis: Patients with sickle cell disease can develop a serious crisis after this injection and need close hospital monitoring.

Storage Conditions
