Floxolev Tablet 250mg formula
How to use Floxolev Tablet 250mg?
- Take Floxolev exactly as prescribed, usually once daily for 5 to 14 days depending on the infection.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water, with or without food.
- Avoid taking it within 2 hours of milk, yogurt, antacids, or iron and calcium supplements.
- Drink plenty of water during the course to protect the kidneys.
- Complete the entire course even if symptoms improve after a few days.
Drug Interactions
- Antacids and mineral supplements: Calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc products reduce Levofloxacin absorption when taken together.
- Warfarin: Levofloxacin can increase the blood thinning effect and raise bleeding risk.
- NSAIDs: Combined use raises the risk of central nervous system effects, including seizures.
- Corticosteroids: Combined use increases the risk of tendon rupture, especially in older adults.
- Antiarrhythmic drugs: Combining with drugs like amiodarone raises the risk of heart rhythm problems.
Risks and warnings
- Tendon damage: Levofloxacin can cause tendon inflammation or rupture, especially in older adults and those on steroids.
- Nerve effects: It can cause numbness, tingling or nerve pain, sometimes lasting after the drug is stopped.
- Heart rhythm: Levofloxacin can prolong the heart's QT interval and raise the risk of irregular heartbeat.
- Mental effects: Rare cases of confusion, anxiety or mood changes have been reported.
- Pregnancy and children: Generally avoided in pregnancy and in children due to effects on developing joints.
