How to use Folitab Tablet?
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
- Take with or without food
- Do not skip doses during pregnancy planning
- Continue for the duration your doctor recommends
Contraindications
- Not recommended for use alone to treat anemia without first ruling out vitamin B12 deficiency
- Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to folic acid
- Avoid using as a substitute for treating untreated pernicious anemia
- Not suitable for self-diagnosed anemia without a doctor's confirmation
Drug Interactions
- Anti-seizure medicines: phenytoin and phenobarbital levels may be reduced by folic acid
- Methotrexate: folic acid can interfere with the intended effect of methotrexate therapy
- Sulfasalazine: may reduce folic acid absorption
Risks and warnings
- Undiagnosed anemia: folic acid can mask the blood signs of vitamin B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues
- Kidney disease: use with caution and inform your doctor beforehand
- Diet: this supplement does not replace a balanced diet
- Known sensitivity: stop use and consult a doctor if signs of an allergic reaction appear
