About Freehale Tablet 5mg
Freehale Tablet 5mg contains montelukast sodium, a leukotriene antagonist for asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Uses
- Long term prevention and control of asthma symptoms in adults and children
- Relief of seasonal and year round allergic rhinitis symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes
- Prevention of exercise induced bronchoconstriction
Benefits
- Reduces airway inflammation and swelling caused by leukotrienes
- Helps lower the frequency of asthma flare ups when taken daily
- Eases nasal congestion and allergy symptoms alongside asthma control
- Taken once daily, which supports better adherence than multi dose inhalers alone
What Experts Say
Montelukast sodium works by blocking leukotriene receptors, which are chemicals released during an allergic or asthmatic response that tighten airway muscles and increase mucus production. By blocking this pathway, Freehale Tablet 5mg reduces airway inflammation over time rather than providing immediate relief during an acute attack.
Physicians typically prescribe it as an add on option for patients whose asthma is not fully controlled on inhaled therapy alone, or for those who need combined control of asthma and allergic rhinitis with a single daily tablet. It is not a rescue medicine and does not replace a fast acting inhaler during a sudden attack.
Regular use is important because montelukast's benefit builds over days to weeks. Doctors advise continuing the tablet even during symptom free periods, since abrupt discontinuation can allow airway inflammation and allergy symptoms to return.
