Grasil Injection Uses
Grasil injection is an antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections like urinary tract infections, sinusitis, otitis media, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, typhoid fever, etc.
Grasil injection is composed of Amikacin, which is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that works by inhibiting the protein synthesis of the bacteria. It binds to 30S ribosome of the bacteria and interferes with its growth. Aminoglycosides are broad-spectrum antibiotics that work against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is an antibiotic, therefore, used against bacterial infections only. They are not given in viral or fungal infections.
How to use Grasil Injection 500mg?
- The injection should be administered by or under the supervision of a health care professional.
- The frequency and dosage depends on your symptoms and response to the treatment
- The dose of Grasil injection for adults is 15mg/kg/day, administered as a single dose or divided into two doses by 12 hours interval given IM or IV
- Grasil injection is injected intravenously or intramuscularly. For intramuscular administration, the healthcare provider will inject it deep into your muscles of the upper quadrant of the buttock due to its thick viscosity. They will make sure it is not injected near the artery or a nerve.
- For intravenous injection, they will infuse it over 30 minutes
