What Experts Say
Doctors in Pakistan often prescribe Kestore Tablet 20mg because heart disease and stroke rates keep climbing across the country, driven by high rates of diabetes and unmanaged cholesterol. Rosuvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol, so LDL levels usually drop within a few weeks of starting treatment, often by 40 to 55 percent at this dose.
Experts note that Rosuvastatin works well at lower doses in South Asian patients compared to Western populations, since genetic differences slow how the body clears the drug. This is why many physicians start Pakistani patients on 10mg before moving up to 20mg, watching for muscle pain or unusual tiredness during the first month of therapy.
Cardiologists stress that Kestore Tablet 20mg works best alongside a low fat diet, regular walking and quitting smoking rather than as a standalone fix. Skipping doses or stopping suddenly can let cholesterol climb back up within weeks, so most experts recommend routine lipid profile and liver function checks every few months to confirm the medicine is working safely.

Drug Interactions
- Cyclosporine: Significantly raises Rosuvastatin levels in the blood and should generally be avoided together
- Warfarin: Can increase bleeding risk, so blood clotting tests need closer monitoring
- Gemfibrozil: Raises the risk of muscle damage when combined with Rosuvastatin
- Antacids: Aluminum or magnesium hydroxide antacids can lower Rosuvastatin absorption if taken at the same time
- HIV protease inhibitors: Can raise Rosuvastatin blood levels and increase side effect risk
- Fenofibrate and niacin: Combined use with statins can raise the chance of muscle related side effects
Risks and warnings
- Liver disease: Rosuvastatin can raise liver enzymes, so people with active liver disease should avoid it unless closely monitored
- Kidney disease: Higher doses may need adjustment in people with reduced kidney function
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Not recommended, as cholesterol is needed for fetal development and the drug passes into breast milk
- Muscle pain: Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness to a doctor right away, as this can signal a rare but serious muscle condition
- Asian ancestry: Pakistani and other South Asian patients may need lower starting doses since drug levels can run higher in this population
- Alcohol use: Heavy alcohol intake raises the risk of liver problems while on this medicine
- Diabetes risk: Statins can slightly raise blood sugar, so diabetic patients should monitor levels closely
