Levee Tablet 250mg Uses
- Treats urinary tract infections
- Treats community acquired pneumonia and bronchitis
- Treats sinus infections that need antibiotic therapy
- Treats certain skin and soft tissue infections
Levee Tablet 250mg Benefits
- Once daily dosing improves how well patients follow the full course
- Broad coverage against many common bacteria in respiratory and urinary infections
- Reaches good levels in lung tissue, useful for chest infections
- Available as an affordable local brand alternative to imported fluoroquinolones
Drug Class
- Fluoroquinolone antibiotic
- Works by blocking bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase enzymes
What Experts Say
Levofloxacin blocks two bacterial enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, that bacteria need to copy their own genetic material correctly. Without these enzymes working properly, bacteria cannot multiply and are cleared away by the body's own immune defenses.
Doctors across Pakistan reserve this antibiotic for infections that genuinely need a fluoroquinolone rather than a first line drug, since overuse encourages resistance. The full prescribed course is completed even after symptoms improve, and patients are advised to stay well hydrated and avoid strong direct sunlight during treatment because of a small photosensitivity risk.
Respiratory and urinary infections are among the most common reasons Pakistani patients seek antibiotic treatment, and resistance to older, cheaper antibiotics has been rising steadily. A fluoroquinolone like this one is kept as a considered option for infections that do not respond well to first line therapy, not a routine first choice.
