What Experts Say
Doctors across Pakistan often prefer fenticonazole for mixed fungal and bacterial skin infections because its imidazole structure gives it activity against yeasts, dermatophytes and several Gram-positive organisms in a single formulation, reducing the need for combination therapy in uncomplicated cases.
Physicians recommend continuing treatment for one to two weeks even after visible symptoms clear, since stopping early is a common reason for dermatophyte infections to relapse. Twice-daily application is occasionally advised in resistant or extensive lesions to improve local drug concentration.
Clinicians generally avoid prolonged use on broken or weeping skin and monitor for local irritation, since imidazole antifungals can occasionally trigger contact sensitisation. Pregnant patients are usually advised to use topical antifungals only after the treating doctor weighs benefit against limited safety data.
