About Misar AM Tablet 40mg / 5mg
Misar AM Tablet 40mg / 5mg contains Telmisartan and Amlodipine, used to control high blood pressure.
Misar AM Tablet 40mg / 5mg Uses
- Treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who need more than one medicine to reach their target
- Used when blood pressure is not controlled well enough on Telmisartan or Amlodipine alone
- Helps lower the strain on the heart and blood vessels caused by long term high blood pressure
- Reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney damage linked to uncontrolled hypertension
Misar AM Tablet 40mg / 5mg Benefits
- Combines two different blood pressure lowering mechanisms in a single tablet, which improves convenience
- Once daily dosing makes it easier to stay consistent with treatment
- Lower dose combination with 5mg Amlodipine may cause less ankle swelling than higher dose Amlodipine formulas
- Suitable for patients who need a fixed dose combination once their pressure plateaus on monotherapy
What Experts Say
Doctors often combine an angiotensin receptor blocker with a calcium channel blocker when one blood pressure medicine alone is not enough. Telmisartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, while Amlodipine widens vessels by blocking calcium entry into their walls. Together they control blood pressure through two separate pathways, giving a stronger effect than either drug used alone.
The 40mg Telmisartan with 5mg Amlodipine strength is often used as an early step up from monotherapy, before moving to higher dose combinations. Physicians choose this tier for patients whose pressure stays above target on a single agent but who may not yet need stronger doses. Pakistan carries a high burden of hypertension, and fixed dose combinations like this one help simplify long term treatment.
Regular blood pressure checks and periodic kidney function monitoring are recommended while taking this combination, since both components affect vessel tone and fluid balance. Physicians typically review response after a few weeks and adjust the dose if control remains inadequate for the patient.
