What Experts Say
Olopatadine works as a dual acting antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer, so physicians recommend it when a patient needs both fast symptom control and longer term inflammation control in one spray. Doctors across Pakistan often prefer this dual mechanism for patients who have not responded well to a single action antihistamine alone.
Dosing guidance for children as young as six years differs from the adult regimen, so prescribers pay close attention to weight and age before finalizing a plan. Physicians typically start with the lowest effective dose and review response after two weeks, adjusting the frequency only if nasal symptoms remain poorly controlled.
Monitoring practice generally includes asking patients about drowsiness, unusual taste, or nosebleeds at each follow up visit, since these are the most commonly reported concerns with intranasal antihistamines. Physicians also review other sedating medicines a patient may be taking before continuing long term therapy.
