What Experts Say
Psychiatrists commonly begin Risperidone treatment with Persch Tablet 1mg because a low starting dose lets the brain adjust gradually to dopamine D2 and serotonin 5 HT2A receptor blockade. This reduces the chance of early sedation, low blood pressure and abnormal movements that can appear when a higher dose is started too quickly.
After a few days at 1mg, doctors typically raise the dose in small steps based on symptom control and tolerance, since Risperidone works best when titrated slowly rather than started at a full treatment dose. This approach is especially useful in adolescents, elderly patients and anyone new to antipsychotic medicine.
Even at this low strength, regular monitoring stays important because Risperidone can raise blood sugar, cholesterol, weight and prolactin levels over time. Physicians generally recommend baseline metabolic screening and periodic follow up, and use extra caution in elderly patients with dementia related psychosis due to a documented higher risk of serious cardiovascular events.
