How to use Riam Syrup 90ml?
- Riam syrup can be taken with or without food, though food helps reduce stomach upset.
- Shake the bottle well before measuring each dose with a proper oral syringe or measuring spoon.
- Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve before the course ends.
- Do not stop this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.
Contraindications
- Patients with a known allergy to metronidazole or any other nitroimidazole medicine.
- Anyone with Cockayne syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting growth and development.
- Patients with a history of serious blood disorders or bone marrow disease.
- Anyone with severe liver disease, as the medicine may not be cleared from the body safely.
- Patients with active central nervous system disorders, such as epilepsy or a seizure history.
- Children under one year of age, unless specifically prescribed by a paediatrician.
Drug Interactions
- Warfarin: Riam syrup can increase the blood-thinning effect of warfarin, raising bleeding risk.

- Pregnancy: Riam syrup is not recommended in the first trimester; use in the second and third trimester only if clearly needed.
