Tobra D Eye Drops Uses

• Used for bacterial eye infections affecting the outer surface of the eye
• Effective against allergic conjunctivitis with a risk of secondary bacterial infection
• Indicated for post-operative eye inflammation following eye surgery
• Treats eye inflammation caused by injury, chemical burns, or radiation exposure
• Chosen for uveitis when a bacterial infection is also present or suspected
• Approved for keratitis, an infection causing painful inflammation of the cornea
• Supports treatment of blepharitis, an infection causing red and swollen eyelids

Tobramycin USP 0.3% + Dexamethasone USP 0.1% per mL

How to use Tobra-D 0.1%/0.3% drops ?

• Wash hands thoroughly before applying Tobra D eye drops
• Tilt the head back, pull the lower eyelid down gently, and apply 1 to 2 drops into the eye
• Apply light pressure to the inner corner of the eye for 1 to 2 minutes after each drop
• Shake the bottle well before every use
• Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye, eyelid, or any surface to avoid contamination.
• Complete the full course as prescribed, even if the eye feels better sooner.
• Do not stop Tobra D eye drops suddenly without asking your doctor

Contraindications

• Allergy to tobramycin, dexamethasone, or any other ingredient in the eye drops.
• Viral eye infection, including herpes simplex keratitis
• Fungal infection in or around the eye
• Mycobacterial eye infection (such as ocular tuberculosis)
• Untreated bacterial eye infection where only Tobra D eye drops are used without proper diagnosis

Drug Interactions

• Other eye drops: Using multiple eye drops at the same time can dilute each other; wait at least 5 minutes between different eye drops
• Oral corticosteroids: Combining with systemic steroids may increase the risk of raised eye pressure and other steroid-related effects
• Nephrotoxic antibiotics (such as gentamicin or amikacin): Concurrent use may increase the risk of kidney-related side effects if absorbed systemically
• Immunosuppressants: These can reduce the body's ability to fight additional infections when a steroid eye drop is also in use

Risks and warnings

• Raised eye pressure (glaucoma): Tobra D eye drops contain a steroid that can increase pressure inside the eye; regular monitoring is needed with prolonged use
• Cataract surgery: Long-term steroid use in eye drops can increase the risk of cataract formation; discuss this with your eye doctor
• Prolonged use beyond 10 days: Extended use without medical supervision raises the risk of fungal or secondary infections; only use as directed
• Contact lenses: Remove contact lenses before applying Tobra D eye drops; wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them
• Blurred vision after use: Tobra D eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision; avoid driving or operating machinery until vision is clear
• Pregnancy: The safety of Tobra D eye drops in pregnancy is not fully established; use only when a doctor determines it is necessary
• Breastfeeding: It is not known if the ingredients pass into breast milk; consult your doctor before use during breastfeeding
• Elderly patients: Older patients with glaucoma or a history of raised eye pressure need closer monitoring during treatment

Tobra D Eye Drops Side Effects

• Burning or stinging in the eye immediately after application
• Eye redness or irritation
• Temporary blurred vision after each dose
• Dry or watery eyes
• Eyelid swelling or discomfort
• Increased sensitivity to light
• Raised eye pressure with prolonged use
• Signs of a new eye infection caused by fungi or other organisms
• Severe allergic reaction including swelling of the face, lips, or eyelids
• Pain behind the eye or sudden changes in vision

• Store at room temperature, below 25°C
• Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
