Abdominal Pain

I am having abdominal pain and shortness of breath. My GP is suspecting its Hiatal Hernia and suggesting to get an endoscopy. I want to know is there some alternative test that I can take?

Dear Patient,

I'm sorry to hear that. There may be other options that can be used for diagnosing hiatal hernia like Barium swallow which is like an Xray. Other tests like an esophageal manometry test and pH test measure the pressure or acid levels in the esophagus giving a fair idea about the likelihood of the hernia. These can be considered before going for endoscopy.
