Blood Pressue Management

Hi, my mom has high blood pressure. She refused to take medicine so she doesn’t get dependent on it, is it okay? It’s stress related What diet and food should she eat to get her blood pressure normal? please guide thank you. P.S it’s her first time and the doctor was convinced by my mom for not taking meds.

Dear Patient,

A single reading of high BP doesn't make her hypertensive. She needs atleast two. Usually the first step is to reduce salt n spices in diet, avoid fatty and oily foods. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables especially those with peel on like apples cucumbers etc. Introduce laal atta, brown bread, rice with husk in diet, increase intake of water and walk daily for 15-20mins in park or open area. These simple measures can help regulate her bp well.
