Bulging disk in Lower Back

My friend got diagnosed with a bulging disk in the lower back that is compressing the nerve root resulting in excruciating lower back and upper thigh pain. Any recommendations on how to fix it? Surgery is the last resort unless its fixed itself.

Dear Patient,

A slipped disc is a painful condition. Lots of bed rest, warm compressions using hot water bag (do not lie down on it as it can burst, turn to the side and rest it on your back) or hot towels, apply fastum gel with gentle hands, rub for long enough that you feel the oiliness is absorbed, pain management (if your doc hasn't given any, then you may use 1 Brexin tablet twice daily) and most essential of all is Physiotherapy. Physio takes long and can be a little expensive but its results will surely satisfy you n may be seen as soon as 1-2 weeks, this can help the symptoms improve a lot.
