Excessive flatulence

Issue is of my brother, he is facing problem of excessive flatulence from almost 5 years, he stays fine after defecation for few hours and problem increase at the night time and after eating his meals, appetite is fine, weight is stable, been to different gastroenterologists, used Rifaxa, esomeprazole, sensival, and different probiotics, rifaxa worked magically for few days but symptoms came back, Anti ttg iga, iga serum level, cbc, H.pylori all are fine! Please guide us

Dear Patient,

Unfortunately in such cases if there are other problems like reflux, diarrhea, stomachache, etc then endoscopy is the next step. For just gases alone if all tests are normal then there isn't much we can change except lifestyle changes, walk for 10-20mins after every meal, avoid spicy oily foods, eat only homecooked meals, identify any triggers in foods which cause more gases. Take 2tbsp ispaghol husk in water daily in the morning before food. Take tab zantac 150mg twice a day. Have lots of water, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Consider doing yoga/aerobics
