Gum Infection

Asked for Male, 15 years

My son got cavities and infection on the gums as well and gums infection as well. I got him checked by the Dentist and gave him Ceporax antibiotic for 4 days and asked for filling. It is his 2nd day of antibiotic and he is suffering from fever now. Why has he got fever? Please, help me in this regard?

Dear Patient,

Infections are when the body's normal processes are under attack and this can manifest itself with fever. Since you are already giving antibiotics, an antipyretic like panadol/brufen/calpol needs to be given 6hrly for a few days till fever subsides.
