How to strengthen knees after surgerys

Hello, I have had menisectomy surgery on both my left and right knee. Right knee was 3 years ago and I dont have any problems with it besides occasional pain which is low grade. Left knee was more recent, 3 months ago, it was a more complicated tear but I have recovered well and back at work since July, left knee is at about 90%, I work as a plumber. My question is what could I do to help strengthen my knee again? Would gym, or maybe yoga or maybe a martial art help? Thanks, Max.

Dear Patient,

Thank you for your query, I'm really sorry to hear of your pain. I would recommend to avoid squatting position at work, try using a stool to sit and keeping legs straight or not completely bent for long periods. Muscle building exercises at the gym or at home will help strengthen your knee. Martial art may cause more strain and yoga is helpful for toning of muscles hence I won't recommend these.
