Infection in Mouth

My 18 years old son had an infection in his mouth. His right side of the palate swelled due to the infection. Our dentist gave him amoxicillin 500mg, panadol, and flagyl. His swelling got a little better but the infection is still there. He further asked us to get his OPG done. The OPG showed that the right 3rd last tooth’s root has dissolved completely and due to the remaining infection his roots of two more tooth’s are getting dissolved. I wanted to ask what is the cause of the infection?

I'm sorry to hear this. The cause of the infection can be better deciphered by the patient's own history. Did they have poor oral hygeine? Why don't you send a pus culture of the infection to the lab and we can find the organism causing it and figure out why this started.
