Nerve pain and rough skin

My mom is diabetic for last 11 years. She is on insulin for the last six years. Now, she is not feeling well, as she has a nerve pain in her foot and ankles. The skin of her foot is getting rough from the last year. She is losing her appetite and is very weak. She is currently on Novomix, Getryl, Cotelsan. What should be done?

Dear Patient,

When was the last time her fasting random blood sugars and HbA1c were tested? When was the last time her medicine was adjusted?
With longterm “poor' control of sugar neuropathic pain can be expected and general deterioration.
I would suggest you do the above labs I mentioned and meet one of our doctors for a review.
Try giving her Glucerna, its a good supplement for diabetic patients. Apply thick layers of Petroleum jelly before bedtime on her feet and cover with socks daily, this may help in a few weeks.
You could give her tablet Neurobian once daily for 30 days to improve pain.
