Pain in Toe

Asked for Male, 61 years

My father has unbearable pain in his big toe, it is turning black. Doc suggested angioplasty for him. but another doc is saying it is not successful & suggesting to cut his leg. We are much depressed. Plz guide

Dear Patient,

I'm sorry to hear that. What you describe sounds like gangrene. In case it is gangrene that means that his toe is dead and won't come back. Also, the problem will keep spreading to more of his toes and his foot or above unless it is cut because eventually, this can be life-threatening. However, without meeting him, I cannot say he has gangrene.
Is he diabetic? Consult a general surgeon and a diabetologist if he's diabetic. They will guide you well. Don't waste much time and make a decision soon.
