Pain in Upper Abdomen

I am having pain in the upper abdominal area/stomach for 4, 5 days. It hurts when I am in a sitting position. Also sometimes when empty I feel alot pain which lightens up as I eat something. I am concerned if its a gall bladder or ulcer kind of problem. Also what tests should be performed for diagnosis.
