Solid food to baby

My daughter is 5 months old. The doctor has advised starting rice cerelac and banana. I started giving cerelac first and continued for several days, yesterday I gave her one small spoon of mashed banana. With the introduction of these solids, she is passing greenish colored stool with normal consistency. Is it normal?

Dear Patient,

Yes, it's normal. Your child will pass even orange or red color stools depending on things like the iron content of the food. As long as there are no red marks of blood or there isn't extremely watery diarrhea, you need not worry.
