Swollen Lymph Node

I notice a swollen area in my neck. Doc diagnosed it to be a swollen lymph node and recommended fine needle aspiration biopsy (fnab). I wanted to know is this absolutely necessary? Is there not any other method which doesn't require insertion?

Dear Patient,

If you have no other symptoms than a swollen lymph node then first eat tablet synflex every day for around 14days. If this doesn't help settle it down then do a 10 day course of tablet augmentin 1g twice a day. If you feel that the lymph node is shrinking you can take the above treatment for another week or so. If there is no improvement at all then you can consult another ENT for this issue.
