Luscious, voluminous, bouncy hair is something we all wish we had. However, keeping hair healthy is not so easy. A lot of people experience hair loss these days. It is normal to lose around 50 to 100 hair strands each day, but hair loss above that isn’t normal. If your hair has suddenly started falling abnormally all of a sudden, and you have no clue why it is happening, here are some reasons to watch out!

1- Nutritional Deficiency:

Your hair and skin reflect the internal state of your health. Your hair needs nutrients and a lot of oxygen to remain healthy. If your diet consists largely of junk food, processed food, and oily food and is deficient in vitamins and minerals, then your hair will not get what it needs to stay healthy. Vitamin B and protein deficiency can also lead to hair loss. Incorporate more hair-friendly foods into your diet to keep your strands healthy. Try to incorporate nuts, salmon, eggs, chia seeds, flax seeds, sweet potatoes, and avocados into your diet.

2- Genetics:

Our hair thins as we age. A lot of women start noticing a difference in their hair as they reach their 50. Sometimes, genetics are also at play. If you think your genes are to blame for your sudden hair loss, see your hair specialist right away so that they can prescribe a treatment.

3- Sickness:

Sometimes, sickness such as flu can cause your hair to shed. However, sickness-induced hair fall is usually temporary and only lasts for some months. After that, the normal growth rate is resumed. You can also ask your doctor to prescribe supplements to enhance hair growth. Sometimes, hair fall is also a side effect of certain medications and when you are taken off them, the hair loss stops too.

4- Stress:

Another thing that can cause hair fall is stress. A lot of people experience hair fall and even hair graying when they are under a high amount of stress. You can use calming oils to fight the effects of stress. You can also massage your scalp to relieve stress.  Head massage also increases blood circulation to the scalp and boosts hair growth. Meditation and yoga also help to de-stress.

5- Pregnancy:

Some women experience hair loss after giving birth. In such situations, hair gets thicker during pregnancy because of the increased circulation of oestrogens. However, the oestrogen levels drop around three months after giving birth. However, this hair loss is temporary and hair usually grows back.

6- Tight Hairstyles:

Avoid tight hairstyles such as high ponytails as they can lead to traction alopecia. This means that hair begins to fall because the hair hairstyle puts it under extreme tension.
