Gynecologists are medical practitioners, who deal with the health of the women's reproductive organs and hormones in regards to their genitalia (uterus, vagina and ovaries). Almost all modern gynecologists are also obstetricians. Obstetricians are primarily concerned with the health and well-being of pregnant women and their unborn child. A gynecological examination is quite personalized as compared to routine physical exam.
Furthermore, Gynecologists typically do a bimanual examination as well to palpate the cervix, uterus, ovaries and bony pelvis. A gynecologist treats diseases such as UTI and pelvic inflammatory diseases, cancer, premenstrual syndrome, infertility and other vaginal diseases.
