What Experts Say
Aceclofenac belongs to a class of NSAIDs that inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 more selectively than older drugs like diclofenac, one reason doctors often prefer it for chronic joint pain needing regular dosing. This selectivity does not remove gastrointestinal risk, so physicians still take caution in patients with a history of ulcers or acid reflux.
Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis affect a large share of adults over 40 in Pakistan, and doctors frequently choose Acemed Tablet 100mg because a twice daily schedule fits realistically into most patients' routines. Rheumatologists usually start at the standard 100mg dose and reassess after two to four weeks, since NSAID benefit builds gradually with consistent use.
Physicians also monitor blood pressure, kidney function and liver enzymes in patients taking aceclofenac for more than a few weeks, particularly those who are older or already on medicine for high blood pressure or diabetes. This monitoring is a key reason the drug remains prescription only rather than an over the counter option.
