What Experts Say
Cardiologists in Pakistan often prescribe Amodip-V Tablet when blood pressure remains high despite treatment with a single medicine. Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel walls, while Valsartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II that would otherwise narrow blood vessels and raise pressure.
Doctors explain that combining both mechanisms in one tablet often controls blood pressure better than increasing the dose of either medicine alone, while keeping side effects manageable. Patients are usually advised to take the tablet at the same time each day and to avoid stopping treatment suddenly, since blood pressure can rise again quickly.
Experts caution that this combination is not safe during pregnancy and should be avoided in women trying to conceive. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function and blood potassium levels is recommended during long term use, especially in older adults or those with existing kidney disease.
