About Dioplus Tablet 10mg / 160mg
A fixed dose combination tablet that lowers high blood pressure by relaxing and widening blood vessels.
Dioplus Tablet Uses
- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults
- Used when blood pressure is not controlled by a single antihypertensive agent
- Helps reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack linked to uncontrolled hypertension
- Used in patients who need combination therapy for better blood pressure control
- Prescribed for hypertension with associated cardiovascular risk factors
Dioplus Tablet Benefits
- Combines two complementary mechanisms for stronger blood pressure control
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels while Valsartan blocks a hormone that narrows them
- Single tablet reduces pill burden compared to taking two separate medicines
- Helps protect the heart and kidneys from long term effects of high blood pressure
- Suitable for long term maintenance therapy once blood pressure is stabilized
What Experts Say
Amlodipine belongs to the calcium channel blocker class. It works by blocking calcium from entering the smooth muscle cells lining blood vessel walls. This relaxes the vessels and widens them, which lowers the resistance the heart has to work against. Over time, this reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings and eases strain on the heart.
Valsartan works through a different pathway. It belongs to the angiotensin receptor blocker class and blocks angiotensin II from binding to its receptors. Angiotensin II is a hormone that narrows blood vessels and triggers sodium and water retention. Blocking this action lowers blood pressure and reduces extra fluid volume that can raise it further.
Combining these two mechanisms addresses blood pressure from two separate pathways instead of one. Clinical guidelines support dual therapy when a single agent fails to bring blood pressure to target levels. This fixed dose combination also improves adherence, since patients take one tablet instead of two, which supports better long term blood pressure control.
