How to use Betagan Drops 0.5%?

• Wash your hands before using the eye drops.
• Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket.
• Place one drop into the pocket without touching the dropper tip to your eye.
• Close your eye gently for one to two minutes and press lightly on the inner corner.
• Wait at least five minutes before using any other eye drop.

Drug Interactions

• Oral beta blockers: Using them with Betagan can excessively slow the heart rate and lower blood pressure.
• Calcium channel blockers: Combined use may cause a very slow heart rate or fainting.
• Other glaucoma drops: Using multiple eye pressure medicines together needs medical supervision to avoid an excess effect.
• Epinephrine: Concurrent use can widen the pupil more than expected and needs monitoring.

Risks and warnings

• Breathing conditions: Levobunolol can worsen asthma or COPD, so tell your doctor about any breathing problems first.
• Heart conditions: This medicine can slow the heart rate, so caution is needed in people with heart block or heart failure.
• Diabetes: Betagan may mask the warning signs of low blood sugar, so blood sugar should be checked regularly.
• Contact lenses: Remove contact lenses before applying the drops and wait fifteen minutes before putting them back in.
