Carac tablet 16mg formula
How to use Carac tablet 16mg?
- Take one tablet daily, at the same time each day
- Swallow with a glass of water, with or without food
- Do not stop the tablet suddenly without asking your doctor
- Get blood pressure and kidney function checked regularly during treatment
- Tell your doctor before any surgery or if you become dehydrated
Drug Interactions
- NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac): Regular use can reduce Carac's blood pressure lowering effect and stress the kidneys.
- Potassium sparing diuretics and potassium supplements: These can push blood potassium to unsafe levels when combined with candesartan.
- Lithium: Candesartan can raise lithium levels and increase the risk of lithium toxicity.
- ACE inhibitors: Combining an ACE inhibitor with candesartan raises the risk of low blood pressure, high potassium and kidney problems.
Risks and warnings
- Pregnancy: Candesartan can harm the unborn baby and must be stopped as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.
- Kidney disease: Patients with reduced kidney function need dose adjustment and monitoring.
- High potassium: Candesartan can raise blood potassium, which needs periodic checking.
- Dehydration: Vomiting, diarrhea or low fluid intake can cause a sharp drop in blood pressure on this tablet.
- Diabetes with aliskiren use: Combining candesartan with aliskiren in diabetic patients raises the risk of kidney problems and high potassium.
