What Experts Say
Cefaclor is a second generation cephalosporin that stops bacteria from building a functional cell wall, which causes the bacterial cell to rupture and die. It works against many common gram positive and some gram negative organisms responsible for childhood infections.
Physicians in Pakistan frequently prescribe this suspension for children who cannot swallow tablets, dosing it by body weight and spreading doses evenly through the day. Respiratory tract infections, middle ear infections and throat infections are among the most common reasons it gets prescribed in general pediatric practice.
Completing the full course matters even after symptoms improve, since stopping early allows surviving bacteria to multiply again and raises the risk of antibiotic resistance. Parents are usually advised to shake the bottle well before each dose and store it as directed to keep the suspension stable.
