What Experts Say
Clexane 4000 IU delivers a fixed low dose of enoxaparin sodium, equal to about 40mg, and is designed mainly for prevention rather than treatment of clots. It works by inhibiting clotting factor Xa, reducing the tendency of blood to form clots during periods of high risk such as surgery or immobility.
This lower strength carries a comparatively smaller bleeding risk than treatment level doses, which is why it suits once daily preventive schedules. Even so, periodic checks of platelet count and kidney function remain important, since impaired clearance can raise drug levels and add to bleeding risk over time.
Doctors generally choose this strength for patients undergoing abdominal, hip, or knee surgery, or for those confined to bed rest due to acute illness. It is not intended for patients who already have a confirmed clot needing full treatment dosing, and it should only be used on a doctor's advice.
