How to use Coralan Tablet 5mg?
- Take Coralan Tablet 5mg by mouth twice daily with meals, ideally morning and evening.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, do not crush or chew it.
- This is usually the starting dose for adults beginning treatment for chronic stable angina or chronic heart failure.
- Your doctor will check your heart rate after about two weeks and may adjust the dose based on your response.
- Do not stop or change the dose on your own, even if you feel better.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next one.
Drug Interactions
- Strong CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, erythromycin, and HIV protease inhibitors raise ivabradine levels sharply and must not be combined with Coralan.
- Verapamil and Diltiazem: These calcium channel blockers slow the heart rate on their own and also raise ivabradine levels, so this combination is not allowed.
- Beta Blockers: Adding a beta blocker to Coralan can lower heart rate further, so your doctor will monitor you closely if both are prescribed.
- Digoxin and Amiodarone: These heart rhythm medicines can add to the bradycardia risk when taken with Coralan.
