How to use Fastum Gel?

  • Fastum gel can be applied to clean, dry and unbroken skin only
  • The gel should be rubbed in gently until it is fully absorbed
  • Hands must be washed right after each application unless they are the treated area
  • Treated skin should stay covered with clothing and away from sunlight
  • Airtight or occlusive dressings must not be used over the treated area
  • This gel should not be used for more than 7 days without a doctor's review

Contraindications

  • Avoid in patients with broken, infected or diseased skin
  • Those with a history of photosensitivity reactions to ketoprofen
  • Not suitable for use in the third trimester of pregnancy
  • Known allergy to ketoprofen, aspirin or other painkillers of the same group

Drug Interactions

  • Warfarin: bleeding risk may rise if the gel is used on large areas
  • Methotrexate: high doses may build up and raise the risk of toxicity
  • Oral painkillers of the same group: combined use adds to stomach and kidney side effects
  • Sunscreens containing octocrylene: skin reactions on treated areas become more likely
  • Always tell your doctor about all medicines you are currently taking

  • Sunlight exposure: treated skin must stay covered during use and for two weeks after
  • Broken skin: wounds, eczema, acne and infected areas must be left untreated
  • Eyes and mucous membranes: contact with eyes, mouth and genital areas is unsafe
  • Asthma: patients sensitive to aspirin may develop wheezing after use
  • Pregnancy: the last three months of pregnancy rule out this gel completely
  • Breastfeeding: the breast area must never be treated with this gel
  • Kidney or liver problems: the treated area and duration should stay as small as possible
  • Elderly patients: the smallest effective amount for the shortest time is safest
  • Share your full medical history with your doctor before taking this medicine
