- Reduces fever
- Manages pain from osteoarthritis
- Relieves short term post operative pain
Lide Tablet 100mg Benefits
- Provides fast relief from moderate pain and inflammation
- Preferentially targets COX-2 enzymes, sparing the stomach lining more than some older NSAIDs
- Twice daily dosing makes it convenient for short courses of treatment
- Reduces both pain and swelling in one medicine
What Experts Say
Nimesulide is a sulfonamide class NSAID that preferentially inhibits the COX-2 enzyme over COX-1, reducing the prostaglandins responsible for pain, fever and inflammation while having comparatively less effect on the stomach protective prostaglandins that COX-1 supports.
Because of reports of serious liver injury linked to long-term use, nimesulide is recommended only as a second-line option for short-term pain relief, generally not beyond 15 days. It is avoided in anyone with a history of liver disease and is not recommended for children under 12 years due to limited safety data in that age group.
Patients are usually advised to take the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed, and to take it after food to reduce stomach upset. Anyone who notices yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, or unusual tiredness while taking it should stop the medicine and consult a doctor promptly.
