Nimesulide is a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug that preferentially blocks the COX 2 enzyme, which drives pain and swelling. It lowers pain and inflammation and can bring down fever. Onset is usually fast, which is why it is often chosen for sudden pain.

Because of reports of serious liver injury, many countries restrict it to short courses, and some have withdrawn it. Where allowed, it is used for the shortest possible time, not for long term pain. How to use Modact-IR tablet 100mg?

• Modact-IR is taken by mouth after food with a full glass of water, as prescribed.
• The lowest effective dose is used for the shortest time, and courses should not run beyond about two weeks.
• It should not be taken together with other pain relievers of the same group.
• Treatment should stop and a doctor be called if yellow eyes, dark urine or severe belly pain appear.

Drug Interactions

• Blood thinners such as warfarin: Bleeding risk rises, so combined use needs close medical supervision.
• Other NSAIDs, aspirin and steroids: Together they raise the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.
• Diuretics and blood pressure medicines: Nimesulide can reduce their effect and strain the kidneys.
• Methotrexate and lithium: Their levels in the blood can rise to harmful levels.
