About Lomogin Tablet 25mg
Lomogin 25mg is a low dose lamotrigine tablet used to begin epilepsy or bipolar disorder treatment.
Lomogin Tablet 25mg Uses
- Starting dose during the early titration phase of lamotrigine therapy
- Add on treatment for partial onset seizures
- Add on treatment for primary generalized tonic clonic seizures
- Low dose option alongside valproate, since this combination needs smaller amounts
- Early phase treatment for bipolar I disorder
Lomogin Tablet 25mg Benefits
- Allows a gentle, gradual start that lowers the risk of serious skin reactions
- Gives doctors a flexible low strength for fine dose adjustments
- Useful when lamotrigine is combined with valproate at a reduced dose
- Supports a smoother switch between different anticonvulsant regimens
What Experts Say
Lamotrigine carries a well known risk of serious rash that rises sharply if the dose is pushed up too fast, so treatment almost always begins at a low strength such as 25mg. Doctors across Pakistan follow a slow, stepwise titration over several weeks before moving a patient toward a full maintenance dose.
This strength is also the one most often used when lamotrigine is combined with valproate, since valproate roughly doubles lamotrigine levels in the blood. Careful monitoring for rash, fever or swollen glands is essential during these early weeks, and any such sign should prompt an immediate call to the treating doctor.
Epilepsy and bipolar disorder both need steady, uninterrupted treatment, and rushing the early dose changes is one of the leading causes of serious drug reactions. Doctors across Pakistan advise patients starting on this tablet to keep every follow up visit so the dose can be raised only as quickly as is safe for that person.

Drug Interactions
- Valproate: Sharply raises lamotrigine blood levels, which is exactly why this low strength is preferred when the two are combined
- Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital: These enzyme inducing anticonvulsants lower lamotrigine levels and may need a faster titration under medical guidance
- Rifampin: Speeds up lamotrigine clearance and can reduce seizure control at this low dose
- Hormonal Contraceptives: Estrogen containing pills can lower lamotrigine levels, so starting or stopping them needs dose review
- Oxcarbazepine: May add to dizziness and unsteadiness even at this lower strength
Risks and warnings
- Serious Skin Reactions: The risk is highest during the first two to eight weeks of treatment, which usually falls within this starting strength
- Aseptic Meningitis: Fever, headache, stiff neck and rash together need same day medical review
- Multi Organ Hypersensitivity: Rare but serious reaction that can involve the liver, blood cells and skin at once
- Suicidal Thoughts: New or worsening low mood or self harm thoughts should be reported straight away
- Pregnancy Use: Only to be continued in pregnancy under close specialist supervision
- Valproate Combination: If taken with valproate, this low strength must not be increased faster than advised, since levels can climb quickly
