What Experts Say
Gastroenterologists in Pakistan frequently prescribe proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole for patients with chronic acid reflux and ulcer disease. This class of medicine remains a first line option because it lowers stomach acid at the source rather than just neutralizing it temporarily, giving the esophagus and stomach lining time to heal.
Doctors caution that Medrox Capsule 20mg should not be used beyond the recommended course without medical review. Long term, unsupervised PPI use has been linked to nutrient deficiencies, including low vitamin B12 and magnesium, and to reduced bone density in several clinical studies.
Patients with persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, or unexplained weight loss are advised to consult a physician before self medicating. Early diagnosis of the underlying cause helps prevent complications like esophageal damage, internal bleeding, or missed serious conditions such as stomach cancer.
