It is used for a short, defined course under an eye doctor's direction, rather than ongoing daily use.

Steroid eye drops are not suitable for viral infections like a cold sore near the eye or fungal eye infections, since they can make these worse, so a doctor should confirm the cause of the eye problem before this is used.

How to use Spersadex drops?

• Use exactly as directed by your eye doctor, usually 3 to 4 times daily.
• Wash hands before use.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any surface.
• Use only for the course length advised.

Drug Interactions

Spersadex drops have few systemic interactions when used as a short course in the eye.

• Other ophthalmic steroids: Avoid combining without medical advice, due to added pressure risk.
• Prolonged or repeated courses: Raise the risk of steroid related eye side effects.

Risks and warnings

• Viral or fungal eye infections: Not suitable for these; a doctor should confirm the cause first.
• Prolonged use: Can raise eye pressure and increase cataract risk with extended use.
• Blood effects: Chloramphenicol carries a rare risk of blood cell effects with prolonged or repeated use.
• Eye pain or vision change: Report any worsening pain, vision change or persistent redness.

Storage Conditions

Store below 25°C, protect from light. Discard 4 weeks after opening.
