Unifyline contains doxofylline, a xanthine bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles around the airways and helps air flow more freely. It is used to prevent and ease wheezing, chest tightness and shortness of breath. Each tablet contains 400 mg of the active ingredient.

Doxofylline is related to theophylline but has a weaker action on adenosine receptors. This is why it tends to cause fewer palpitations, tremors and sleep problems, and it needs less blood level monitoring in routine practice. It is also broken down by the liver, so liver health matters for dosing.

How to use Unifyline tablet 400mg?

• Take Unifyline Tablet exactly as prescribed, usually two to three times daily.
• Swallow the tablet with water, and take it after food if it upsets your stomach.
• Do not take more than prescribed and do not stop suddenly without asking your doctor.
• Do not use it as a rescue medicine during a sudden attack.

Drug Interactions

• Theophylline and other xanthines: Taking them together can cause overdose effects such as palpitations and vomiting.
• Erythromycin and ciprofloxacin: These antibiotics can raise doxofylline levels, so the dose may need adjusting.
• Cimetidine: It can raise blood levels of xanthine drugs and increase side effects.
• Beta blockers such as propranolol: They can weaken the airway opening effect and may worsen asthma.

• Heart conditions: Use with caution in irregular heartbeat, recent heart attack or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
