Aoa asking on behalf of a friend. Her baby is 24 weeks old. She has just started semi solids three days ago. She started with mashed banana. Her baby loved it so much that he ate whole banana and demanded even more. She is bit worried if it is fine to give whole banana? Secondly, she wants to make rice pudding for him, can she make it in cow's milk? Thanks

Dear Patient,

WA. You can start with half a banana. If the banana is the small or medium size it's ok to give whole. The rough estimate of a child's stomach size is the size of his closed fist. So you can give a single serving in the same volume as the size of his fist.
She can mix formula milk or breast milk in his rice pudding, not cow's milk.
